Karen Tiede Studio:

Jewelry for the Garden, and the World's Finest Penguin Decoys

Karen Tiede Studio is an art studio in central North Carolina where I create decorative and functional sculpture, colorful paintings, textiles, jewelry, and more.

Originally and long before the movie, I carved penguins (which is an interesting story all its own).  Over time, my work has broadened.  I'm always making something, and some of the time, I offer my work for sale.  Enjoy, and feel free to contact the studio.

(Browser note: This site works best in IE and Firefox 3.0; if you know what to change to make it work in Firefox 2.0 let me know. At the moment, I don't have the coding skills to write the workaround. Both the HTML and CSS are compliant.)

July: Starts off with a hooping whoosh at the Goldsboro Jaycees' 4th of July Parade (See Parade Hooping on the hooping pages) followed by the Croaker Festival in Oriental, NC. Wouldn't mind a quiet "rest of the month" after that to catch up and get a few new rugs on needles...

Feel free to follow any details about what happens when I'm making art in my new blog. I'm still learning how the application works.

The eBay store is open!! Within eBay, search for Karen Tiede Studio in the Stores listing (name match), or go directly to Karen Tiede Studio eBay Store! For today, it's mostly my rugs, Carve Smart, and two carvings that are going to be a challenge to deliver. Will be adding art as fast as I can write the copy and post the photos.

Rob Brezhny thinks chainsaw carving is outlandish:

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): If I'm reading the astrological omens correctly, this would be an excellent time for you to apply for a job as a crocodile trainer, audition for a supporting role in a TV soap opera, or give motivational speeches to five-year-olds. For that matter, it wouldn't outlandish for you to use a chainsaw to create sculptures from dead trees, make a home video of yourself entitled "The Dancing Chef" or "The Wise-Ass Guru," or write a research paper on orca whales and quantum physics. In other words, Pisces, consider trying things you've never considered before. Ask yourself if maybe you possess hidden talents that you haven't even begun to cultivate. Be receptive to the possibility that your destiny is more open-ended than you've ever imagined.

Hmmm... what is outlandish, when chainsaw carving is a normal part of my life?
